Cam Newton Emerges as Top College Football ’25 Streamer (2024)

Cam Newton had one of the greatest single seasons of college football during the 21st century, totaling over 4,300 total yards and 50 combined touchdowns (30 passing, 20 rushing) while leading Auburn to the 2011 BCS National Championship.

As a Panthers fan, I followed Newton’s career from the time he was drafted in 2011, through his MVP season in 2015 and eventually to his final season with the team in 2021. It was a delight watching him embarrass opposing defenders on Sundays.

What I did not expect was for Ace Boogie to continue his dominance on the virtual gridiron.

Since the release of College Football 25, Newton has been one of several former athletes to take his turn at the sticks, and it turns out he’s a really solid player. Back in late July, a video of Newton destroying Travis Hunter, 42-20, went viral on his YouTube channel, @MoreCamNewton.

Newton has spent the majority of his time since the game’s release playing the Road to the College Football Playoff online game mode and streaming it to his sizable following on socials. And his streams have led to some pretty hilarious candid moments.

In one instance, Newton used South Carolina against someone who played with North Carolina. The former NFL star led the game 32-29, with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. Faced with a 2nd-and-5, Newton was ultimately gifted the win after his opponent — who happened to be a huge fan of his — took an intentional offsides penalty to give him a first down.

After doing so, the fan woke up his kids and his significant other to tell them he just played Cam Newton in CFB 25. You can hear the excitement in his voice, and it was just a really genuine moment that you can’t help but smile at.

In a separate interaction early this month, Newton went viral again for playing an opponent who was being openly racist over the in-game microphone. The guy had a chance to beat Newton, leading 22-18 with 1:55 left and the ball in field goal range, but he turned the ball over on downs and Newton went on to complete the comeback by scoring three touchdowns before the final whistle blew.

Instead of taking his L with pride, the racist — who was playing with Alabama despite having the Gamertag @WeAreOleMiss on Playstation — then rage quit.

“We’ve got to start exposing these people …” Newton said to his following after the game. “This dude that just said all this, his whole profile should just pop up and we should know everything about him. What’s his Instagram? All that stuff. It’s about respect, bro.”

He then spoke some more truth.

“That boy mad, bro. How he going to be mad at me and he got the best team in the game?”
